Let’s see how to shorten command line commands, whether privileged or not in the ASA. Yes, we are talking about command aliases. All help is welcome, if we are sitting the CCIE Lab exam, even more.

Cisco ASA aliases can be configured thtough command-alias. As we already know what an alias is, here we go:

Show interfaces’ ip addresses:

Command show interface ip brief becomes siib like so:

command-alias exec siib show interface ip brief

Command show vpn session database detail for LAN-to LAN:

command-alias exec vpnll show vpn-sessiondb detail l2l

And show vpn session database with full index as:

command-alias exec vpni show vpn-sessiondb detail full index 1
