This concept applies equally to all firewall. I have yet to see one where this is not applied and understood in the same way.

The reference for the direction of traffic is always from the device point of view. That is, traffic coming in on an interface, towards the firewall , is considered inbound (IN). Traffic leaving an interface, from the firewall , is considered outbound (OUT).
